Your Place in the Multiverse: Jean Lowe
Step into an artist’s world which is staged from familiar, commercial storefronts to grandiose household décor. Jean Lowe uses primarily craft materials including papier-mâché to transform this gallery into an immersive experience. Lowe’s work has been created over the last twenty years. While visiting, make sure to watch the gallery film featuring Lowe’s portrayal of an artists’ critique of her past exhibits. This exhibit will run from March 19, 2022 – September 18, 2022. Learn more at Laguna Art Museum. The museum is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Orange County Docent League – Spring 2022
The Orange County Docent League will be hosted by Jennifer Keil, Director of Moulton Museum, at Aliso Viejo Ranch on April 11, 2022 for the spring event. The conference is titled, The Making of a Museum: Creation of a Docent Organization for the 21st Century. We will have Eddie Grijalva, President of Saddleback Area Historical Society, join us on Zoom. He recalls meeting Mr. Moulton while living on Moulton Ranch in the 1930s. Museum of Making Music
We recently visited Carlsbad to see the newly renovated Museum of Making Music. It is located within the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) headquarters. As you enter the lobby, you will see on the right the Museum Store and entrance to the museum. Make sure to obtain a stylus from the docent for the touch displays throughout the museum. The Museum of Making Music describes their renovation as a place with “deeper stories, more hands-on interactivity, and a chance to connect to music making on a whole new level!” Our favorite gallery was the Sit & Play display where guests are encouraged to play instruments. Permanent Exhibit Step back in time to Avalon’s historical founding period detailing the development by the Wrigley Family. The permanent exhibit display explains the development of this island. Hollywood legends used to live here and frequent it. Center for Oral and Public History
Jennifer Keil shared her experiences as a 2014 Masters Degree graduate from the History Department in the Lawrence de Graaf Center for Oral and Public History in the Biennial Report | 2020-2021. Creating Access to California History showcases partnerships with cities and museums. Keil is the Founder of 70 Degrees and Museum Director of Moulton Museum, which will open to the public on July 1, 2022. Register to participate in the bi-annual Oral History workshop on Saturday, February 26th from 10am-1pm. We initially learned how to 3D scan and print at UCI Applied Innovation. Now, we have a printer at the 70 Degrees lab. Our next goal is to scan artifacts and 3D print artifacts like the 3D Smithsonian.
