MOULTON MUSEUM By Jennifer Keil Historian of Moulton Museum and Co-founder of 70 Degrees Moulton Museum has shown true grit by sustaining the missionstatement established during strategic planning prior to the shutdowns. We stand for heritage, community, and philanthropy. L. F. Moulton & Co. used to cover nearly 22,000 acres and operated under the name Moulton Ranch. The icon of the cowboy in the West remains relevant for the Moulton family, which owns ranches to this day. As members of the American Alliance for Museums, we are committed to best practices. Seven Stories of San Juan
Randy Morgan and his apprentices, Michael and Rowan, created the Seven Stories of Old San Juan in the historic Silvas Adobe from the 1790s on Los Rios street. It captures historic moments in Saddleback Valley with the Portolá Expedition in 1769 to the founding of Mission San Juan Capistrano in 1776. As the birthplace of Orange County, this installation of “Old San Juan” mural is vital to sharing the story of our collective past on the exterior façade of Hennessey’s at 31761 Camino Capistrano. It showcases Vaqueros on horseback roping and rounding up cattle. These 3D pieces capture the color composition of the Southwest with copper and burnt sienna tones.…

Oral History Podcast
Jennifer Keil, founder of 70 Degrees, conversed with Summer Cherland. Keil provided her insight for conducting oral histories with various institutions. She shared resources and techniques for best practices when facilitating interviews. She recommends introductory and advanced workshops at oral history centers such as CSUF’s Lawrence de Graaf Center for Oral and Public History. Additionally, one could join professional networks such as Oral History Association and Southwest Oral History Association (SOHA) which offer training at annual conferences. In this podcast, she shared the connections with Anthropology, Genealogy, and Oral History practices. Her goal is to make archives accessible online through content management systems. Aliso Viejo Ranch
The Aliso Viejo Ranch officially open to the public in May 2021. The rehabilitated historic barn, sheds, new barn, and foreman’s house provide insight into the Moulton Ranch in the 20th century. Visit this 7.7 acre site at 100 Park Ave. Aliso Viejo, CA. We worked with the city of Aliso Viejo, Third Street Architecture, and Moulton Museum to create an interpretive plan for Aliso Viejo Ranch. We created a virtual tour of the permanent display. Virtual Tour Moulton Museum provided historic artifacts on loan for the displays. This includes Lewis Moulton’s original desk and swivel chair where he oversaw the finances. The day-to-day operations included balancing ledgers and issuing…

Women’s History Exhibits
Happy International Women’s Day! In March we celebrate the many contributions women have made to history. The Smithsonian Museum’s online women’s history exhibits are incredible. We particularly recommend the Museum Objects, Oral Histories, and Podcasts. Viewing and listening to these online materials will remind us of the work that generations prior to us did. It’s important to remember the enduring legacies of female leadership. One exhibit in particular, The Creating Icons: How We Remember Woman Suffrage pays homage to the leaders of the movement.
